Get them to buy your products, once they are buying your product they will be more open to other items you make. Its simple business, cater to your potential customers. I already have to much invested in Keymod accessories for me to switch. I know from my point of view, I won't be replacing my rail system to embrace Magpuls mlok. Honestly there are enough Keymod rifles out there for Magpul to justify making parts for them to. I'm sure other customers would feel the same as I do. I have a keymod rail on my AR and thats what I care about. it might be, but it doesn't matter to me. They may believe thier system is better and for What I know. How is it competitve if the Keymod system is free to be used by anyone? Don't they make items that fit 1913 dispite thier system "being better"? Why would they want to build the competitive system's following? Magpul has their own system they feel is superior. Wouldn't it be benifitial for Magpul to construct items in Keymod as well as thier Mlok? they would be able to sell more product? Just sayin. This already and the system is less than a year old. We have already had to clarify the required M-LOK standards for more than one manufacture building slightly out of the specs. This is an issue for all systems having multiple manufactures working on a single set of specs. Incorrect machining of one part can easily result in a damaged component or rail when the two seemingly compatible items are used together. Some are obviously incompatible like HKs version, but the real issues will be in the details of the tolerances and how they are held. This leads to greater compatibility with M-LOK parts between different manufactures.įor keymod we have already seen a few variations of it show up.
Under the free license any manufacture HAS to build their M-LOK product within the published M-LOK specs otherwise they cannot use the registered M-LOK Logo on the item or packaging.
M-LOK is a free license system with a full detailed manufacturing TDP (including both required and recommended specifications). Anyone can modify this design in any way and still call it keymod even if it is incompatible with other parts called keymod. Keymod consists of three basic dimensioned drawings that are open source. You bring up an interesting difference between the systems. The only downside is here and there you might run into some garbage items with M-lok "as well as with keymod" because they are open license giving anybody be it a well known builder or a chinese knockoff firm free reign to build on. If you're a Bravo Company "(BCM)", Noveske, or Vltor fan your pretty much stuck with Keymod, everyone else will most likely be jumping on either both or strictly M-lok because like I said above it's friggin magpul.
